What Does Title Insurance Cover?

Title insurance is most likely not the first thing you think of when buying a house, and it can be tricky to understand! To help you see the importance of title insurance, we’ve compiled a list of things that are covered with a title insurance policy!


  1. Someone else owns an interest in your title

  2. Someone else has an easement on the land

  3. Someone else has a recorded right to limit your use of the land

  4. Someone else has a recorded lien or encumbrance on your title

  5. False impersonations of the true owner of the property

  6. Forged deed, releases or wills, Instruments executed under

  7. Invalid or expired Power of Attorney

  8. Undisclosed or missing heirs

  9. Mistakes in recording legal documents

  10. Deeds by persons of unsound mind, minors, persons supposedly single
